Kiwanis Children’s Wheels originated from an inspiring encounter between Kiwanis member Michel Van Looveren and his friend Renée Bufkens, the driving force behind the Ferris wheel that has been bringing people together for years at various locations and in multiple cities.
From a shared conviction — that every child has the right to carefree happiness — the idea emerged to bring the Kiwanis motto “Serving the Children of the World” to life in a tangible and heartfelt way. Thus began the story of Kiwanis Children’s Wheels: an annual initiative that literally and figuratively lifts vulnerable children above their daily worries.
Today, Kiwanis Children’s Wheels is supported by local Kiwanis clubs in Antwerp, Brussels, and Ghent, who together put their shoulders to the wheel for a concrete project that gives children strength, joy, and lasting memories.
Thanks to this collaboration across club boundaries, larger and more meaningful events are created — driven by commitment, friendship, and the belief that children deserve more than just support.
